If you’ve always dreamed of having a vacation home by the beach, on the lake, in the mountains, where ever you like to spend your downtime, a modular home is for you. A modular home can make building your second home almost as enjoyable as spending your vacations and weekends relaxing there.

Chances are, you plan on building a second home some distance from where you reside. If so, this can make the process of building a second home stressful and difficult, as you probably will not be able to spend a great deal of time at the building site watching your investment as it is being built. A traditionally-built home can take several months to build on site; for the off-site homeowner, this means several months of being unable to keep a close eye on the process of the home construction. Perhaps no variety of home is more misunderstood than the modular home. Here is a list of the most common misconceptions about modular homes – the truth may shock you.

  • Modular homes are the same as mobile/manufactured homes.
    The fact is, there are only two things that modular homes and mobile and/or manufactured homes have in common – they begin their careers in a factory, and they are brought by truck to the home site. Mobile/manufactured homes are completed constructed in the factory. From the floor to the roof, and everything in between, a mobile/manufactured home is built on an assembly line. A modular home, on the other hand, is built in sections in a factory, but is constructed at the home site.

Building a home will probably be the biggest investment most homeowners will ever make. For that reason, most homeowners take their time with the process, making sure that every detail is considered and every option is explored.
